What do I do if the dealership I bought my car from didn't put lien holder on the title?

I bought my car about 3 months ago using cash and a check from capital one auto finance. The dealership put it down as a cash purchase and never put my lien holder on the title. I%26#039;ve received the title and only my name and brother%26#039;s name is on it with no lien on it. Should I just leave it like this or will this create a problem?

This happens all the time, you just need to mail the title to capitol one. They will take care of the rest. You could sell or keep the car without paying for it, but they would just sue you and they would win. Good Luck

Probably a problem. Your insurance co %26amp; Capital One would not be happy.

You should have papers showing the lein holder and your agreement with them. Take that document and your current registration papers to the State Revenue Office license division and they will correct and issue a new title.

You must do this because the paperwork will catch up and you will have more problems.

Dont worry capital one has a copy of the title too. You have the duplicate.

Essentially the dealership has in effect given you a clear title and if you chose to you could sell the car without having capital one%26#039;s authorization. Of course that does not clear you from your loan with capital one. You can go back to the dealership and they should be able to correct the problem. I%26#039;m sure capital one will be thankful for your honesty.
