A good friend has no car insurance, and I went to the hospital..?

Me and my friend were driving back from a snowboarding trip and ending up flipping his vehicle. I hit my head and ended up taking an ambulance ride to the hospital, had a CAT scan, etc. They released me in a few hours.

He tells me when I get out that he has no car insurance. My friend is a good buddy, but isn%26#039;t very wise with his finances. I have the money to pay for my medical bills and I have health insurance through my job, but it%26#039;s still gonna be a pretty penny. If I decided to sue him, I woulnd%26#039;t get crap b/c he is in debt up to his butt. Plus, I would lose a friend.

He promised that he would pay my medical bills, but I just don%26#039;t see that happening, at least for a long time. I am fairly certain that he will be in court for filing an accident report, no proof of insurance, and it is likely that my health insurance company will be going after him as well.

I am in a tough spot on this one. Any insights to this situation is very much appreciated.

okay i dont know facts alright but im pretty sure that if he has no ins. and no money and is in debt...if he has no assets like a house, a car he s making payments on or bank accounts then nobody would waste the time or paper to sue him...i would say your ins would just cover you..you may have to go through a little bull to get them to spend the money but eventually they will..financially if your friend isnt worth anything how can they sue for anything??glad to hear your ok!!

If you can afford it and your friendship is valuable to you, then pay it yourself and help him out. I bet he won%26#039;t go without insurance again! Maybe he learned a lesson!
