Can one dealership prevent other dealership from selling me a car through bank?

We went to one dealership and got forced into almost buying a car we really didnt want so I backed out at the last second before finalizing deal. Well we went to another dealership 2 weeks later on a Saturday and found the car we wanted at the price we could afford. Everything was going good until they came back and said they have BAD news (after sitting there 3 hours waiting for a finance manager to finalize it) the sales manager tells us that the first dealership has put a decline on us and put some kinda lock on us, the manager says some dealers do this so a customer will have to go through a bunch of crap to get a car from somewhere else. They told us to come back on Tuesday because Monday is Presidents Day, and they have a cash deposit of mine. They say the car is ours but for some reason I feel like somethings not right. Does this situation really happen to customers between dealers? will the bank really not let one dealer sell you a car because of another dealer? Should I call?

its possible the first dealership didnt have a complete approval and were just spot delivering you or the other dealer didnt not want to match the approval depending on what they were making a good finance manager will foind out what was said to the bank from the last dealer and correct it i am a finance manager at a dealership for 11 years and i would have found out what was said for sure to ruin your chances of an approval thats not good business at all. also the last answer stated that you have 3 days grace to back out .that is false there is no cooling off period in the usa at all if you sign a contract you are stuck with it period

Call and talk to the General Manager of the dealership. Let him know what happenned and if this isn%26#039;t resolved ASAP, you will contact the Manufacturer and your lawyer.

That%26#039;s Bullcarp. Don%26#039;t let them get away with it.

Chances are the bank is showing that the deal did not go through for some reason or declined. It depends on the reason the dealer has marked declined.

The dealer cannot put a lock on you. I would call the bank and ask them why, explain the situation as mentioned above, and have them re-evaluate your application.

There is also the possibility that the dealers are both owned by the same person. Either way, do as suggested and have the bank re-run the application. It is a bunch of %26quot;El toro poo-poo%26quot;.

No, not unless the sale shows up on your credit bureau report as having made the purchase.

If you backed out of the deal at the last minute (which by law you have 3 days to decide if you want to go through with the purchase) I don%26#039;t see how that would look unfavorably on your credit. Did you tell the manager that you declined the deal and that the other dealership shouldn%26#039;t be involved at all?

Yes it does sound strange, but in the age of instant credit there can be downsides and maybe that is one of them go back like he asks and maybe it will be straightened out by now.
