Buying my first car?

I want to buy my first used car with my Tax return and wanted to know if anyone can tell me where to look for a car?

-Im working with a lil less than $2000

-I live in Chicago

-I dont want to finance/ Loan

Buying my first car?

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that I bought a year and a half ago for $1000 and I%26#039;ve put about 10k miles on it.

Over the years, the public has set the Accord/Camry on a really high pedestal (not for any especially good reason), and so they cost alot more to buy used than they should. I would suggest a 1995-1996 Cutlass Ciera or a 1995-2000 Buick Century (which was the same as the Olds in %26#039;95 and %26#039;96).

Pros:

Very Reliable

Comfortable

Good gas mileage(I got 29 mpg on highway, with the AC on and going 85 mph)

Cost thousands less than Accord/Camry w/ same mileage and year

Safe

REALLY cheap insurance(mine%26#039;s $400/yr, I am a 16 year old male)

Just about the easiest cars to work on, with the cheapest and easiest to find parts.

Cons

They aren%26#039;t exciting. They aren%26#039;t slow, but many would find them boring

But I%26#039;m happy with mine. Great car.

My advice as to where you can find such a car: Craigslist.

And as they will always tell you, get a mechanic you trust to look at it. That is the most important part of the whole process.

Good luck.

Buying my first car?

Try the places where they keep cars which have been impounded because of DUI. A lot of people never recover their cars, and they get sold for cheap yet they are still good cars.

Buying my first car?

you can try classifieds and go to www.craigslist.com, and pick your state, then cars and trucks section. You can find some real good deals there.

Try autotrader.com they have tons of cars under $2000 and I know because I am turning 16 on the 23 and I%26#039;ve been looking. So Good Luck!

Buying my first car?

There are plenty of places to look. If you have a model in mind you can see if there is a forum for that brand and check their classifieds. You%26#039;ll find lots of good info on the car too. Last bit of advice is as soon as you find and buy a car STOP looking. It%26#039;s a proven fact that the very next day you%26#039;ll find a deal of a lifetime. It happens to everyone. Good luck.
