I put $3500 down on a vehcile at dealership. Co-signer signed all papers. Later found out my name was on nothing. Finance Company said if I paid 8 months, on time, with a check in my name they would place my name on title. After doing so, I was infomred that (I moved out of state) they do not have a company in this state and they are sorry that I was misinformed. Two years have passed and I am still wondering if he owns the car or I. I am paying the note (making his credit good) and insurance. Original plates were never sent. How do I get plates for the vehicle for this state when his drivers liscense are for another state?
I thought he was co-signing for my car?
if you have the car in your possession go to dept of motor vehicles. tell them you need plates show the registration. Have you talked to your co- signer? Does he have the plates. will he turn it over to you into our name? There is a form at D.M.V.(department of motor vehicles he can sign over to you to get it in our name. but make sure he does not put any money transaction down. read the form carefully and just make sure the name is changed. Get the car refinanced in your state with a letter form the original owner- with him getting a notary to sign the letter also. A notary will not cost anything at a bank.

Well you could contact the (DMV) and ask but from what you have said %26quot;the co-signer signed all the paperwork%26quot; you don%26#039;t own it at all.
