My car got repoed 3 weeks ago and I was less than 3 months late on my payments. When I called to see how I can get it back, they said it was going to be like $2000, which is 3 months of my car note, plus repo fees. They said I had 30 days to get it back. I got the money together and called them about a week and a half later to get my car back and they said it would be over $3000 to get it back now. Because the finance company needed me to pay 6 months in advance to reinstate my loan. When I called back a week later with all the money, they said that my car had been sold!!! It had only been 3 weeks since my car got repoed, is that legal?? They did not even give me a chance to get my car back. Not to mention when I asked to come pick up my stuff that was in my car, they said they mailed it to me already. When I asked about my CDs, they said they did not see any CDS in there!! Of coarse not!! What do I do???? Is what they did to me even legal???

Yes, it%26#039;s legal. They can sell it within days of notifying you. They decided to sell it because they were sick of you playing games with them. You had plenty of time to get it back but procrastinated. Now they will bill you for the difference between how much it sold and how much you owe. Sorry but that%26#039;s what happens when you don%26#039;t pay on time.
The repo will stay on your credit for 7 years.

Hate to say it, but it%26#039;s their car they have the right to do whatever they want with it. You could talk to an attorney, but I don%26#039;t think it will do you any good. You should have never been behind on your payments in the first place.
