Bought an 05 ford (35k mi) from a used car dealership, was told it was under ford warranty and got my own extended warranty.
That night, problems began. I make an appt at Ford to have it looked at. Bring it to ford they tell me the warranty is up.
I call the dealership I bought it from, they tell me to take it to my mechanic. I do. He says it has a serious transmillion problem, he does not do transmissions.
Call dealership purchased from back, tell me to use my warranty and take a day off of wrok to bring it down to them, I say no. I missed 2 days of work already to handle the other two appts. I have not had it 30 days, I would like them to fix it while being convieniat to me. (they are a 3 hour plus round trip for me).
Owner gets on phone and is a JERK. Can I bring the car back? I have not made any payments? Has not been 30 days. Calling finance compnay today to dispute loan. This guy is not getting my 10,000.
Thanks,
L in NJ

The problem is, the dealership already got their $10,000 from the finance company. You cannot just return a car, or not just pay your loan. Unfortunatley, the bank won%26#039;t care either if you call them and tell them you are not going to pay. They will mark it for reposession and destroy your credit and your ability to ever get a car or other types of credit.
If you bought an extended warranty, and it covers powertrain items, then you should be covered. The dealer probably is not going to cater to you. You just need to bring the car back to the dealership and have them fix it under warranty.
The chances are, the more upset you get with the dealer, the less willing they are going to be to help you at all. I would recommend still making your payments unless you want to destroy your credit. I understand your frustration, but legally, you own the car now, and it is your responsibility with or without a warranty.
One thing you may try though, is call the local TV news station and see if maybe they would like to hear your story. Chances are, if the news gets involved, the dealr will bend over backwards.
I sell cars for a living for a reputable dealer, and I see these tyoes of questions on here all the time. I hate to break the bad news to people, but basically it%26#039;s all your problem at this time, but at least they said they will fix it, you just need to get it to them.

Ok first off you can not dispute the loan. I do not care if the car broke in half you are still responsible for the loan that you signed the agreement to make. Not paying a payment is just going to hurt you and your credit. So pay the payment as not doing so will hurt you and well the lender has nothing to do with the car they loaned you money on it in good faith of you paying for it even if it needs repairs. Not paying etc will get you no where but in trouble!
Now it does suck that the dealer is saying you need to bring it back. I understand it takes time but to get your car fixed and running properly would it not be worth it. I am sure he will give you a car to drive while he is repairing yours. Also you are driving it with a a transmission problem and you know about the problem so tread carefully as it could bite you. They could say you continued to drive knowing it had the problem and that made it worse and they have a good shot at legally denying your claim then.
It sucks that your car is having problems but you should have had it checked by a mechanic before purchasing it as with any used car! If the transmission is covered under warranty they have to repair it under that warranty but they do not have to come and pick the car up and cater to you etc.
It sounds like the dealer is willing to work towards a mutual resolution but you only want it to happen your way. No offense. You need to start being willing to compromise because in the end the dealer is the one that will be helping you etc. you make him mad he is not going to do any more than he has to.
